Greetings!

Happy May and Happy Mother’s Day
to all the mothers
and mothers-to-be.

God could not be everywhere, so he created mothers.
—Jewish Proverb

My issue this month is dedicated to Allergies, both food and environmental.

As many of you know, this is one of the worst allergy years so far. Many of my patients are really suffering this year. So I decided to discuss allergies and some of the treatments from the natural perspective.

First you can read about Allergies and What Causes Allergies. You will see that some of the underlying issues that cause both food and environmental allergies are the same. It starts with the introduction of a foreign substance into an immune system that is already compromised. You will learn the forms of allergy testing and the different types of allergies.

In the sections under Hay fever, I discuss the environmental allergies that are so prevalent this year. Hay Fever 101 discusses the etiologies and presentation of hay fever. You can also learn some Helpful Hints for Hay Fever and some ideas for Dust and Mold Control in your home areas.

In the Food Allergies section I discuss the Elimination and Challenge Diet for treating and diagnosing food allergies. There is also a section on Gluten. Gluten free is the new buzzword and you will learn here why gluten is such a provocative allergen.

There are many natural remedies for treating allergies. They can be used instead of or in conjunction with the medications that are prescribed by your doctor.

Finally, I have included some Tea Recipes for Allergies and some Recipes for Allergies, which have none of the major food allergens.

I hope you find this issue supportive through this intense allergy season. It will make spring so much more enjoyable if you are feeling well.

Mostly, I would love to thank all of the mother’s in the world for the energy and love that they give to nurturing families, friends and our communities. Truly, my mother is the most special person in my life. There are a couple of quotes here that remind me of my mother and her unconditional love and support.

My mother had a slender, small body, but a large heart – a heart so large that everybody’s joys found welcome in it, and hospitable accommodation.
— Mark Twain

Mother love is the fuel that enables a normal human being to do the impossible.
— Marion C. Garretty, Quoted in A Little Spoonful of Chicken Soup for the Mother’s Soul

I love my mother as the trees love water and sunshine – she helps me grow, prosper, and reach great heights.
— Terri Guillemets

Thank you for everything you say and do, Mom. I love you.

I would also like to thank my cousin Robyn McGinty. She is the creative computer goddess that is making these newsletters and my website so beautiful and enjoyable for you all to read.  She helps my visions come to life. I love you, Cuz. (i <3 u 2 ! -robyn)

Have a great May!
