1. Eat a Whole Foods Diet

2. Specific Foods for Depression:

Foods with high protein and tyrosine to rouse brain activity

  • Soy products
  • Eggs
  • Low Fat Dairy
  • Meat and Seafood

Foods with high carbohydrate and tryptophan for calming the brain

  • Dark Chocolate
  • Nuts
  • Legumes
  • Seeds

3. Avoid:

  • Alcohol
  • Drugs
  • Sugar
  • Caffeine
  • Processed Foods


4. Do not skip meals

5. Eat protein 3-4 times per day

6. Take a daily food based Multivitamin with minerals and an Omega 3 formula

7. Exercise, Walk or do Yoga 3 times per week

8. Get 8-10 hours of sleep

9. Spend 5-10 minutes in silence reflecting on all you are grateful for

10. Devote 15 minutes per day to your spiritual practice

11. Seek Counseling with a trained professional

12. Surround yourself with friends and loved ones

13. Give yourself space for a creative project, travel, or play time weekly

14. Get 20 minutes of sunlight each day without sunglasses on. It is OK if it is cloudy outside.

15. Receive massage for relaxation

16. Schedule regular Acupuncture sessions to balance the body.

17. Get your hormones and neurotransmitters tested to see if you need additional nutritional support
