Here are some organizations that I love that are helping people and communities to rebuild themselves.

Sponsor a child from an international area of need.

You will be helping to promote education, health care, jobs and sustainability to this child’s community. You can write and send small gifts to your child. You can also arrange a visit to meet your child. This is a great gift for children and teens.

The pictures are from my visit to Mali to see our Save the Children child Amidou. The pictures are in the school room, with Amidou, and with Amidou and his family as he is giving me a gift.

The program is for women only. You can sponsor a sister from a war torn area. Most of the women have been victims of rape and violence during war. Your sponsorship money goes to helping her get health care, rehabilitation, education and to start her own business. You will have regular written correspondences with your sister.
I am currently sponsoring a sister from Nigeria and Afghanistan.
This is a wonderful gift for a woman you love.

Protect–An–Acre
This program allows you to protect rainforest land and support the economies of local indigenous peoples. This is a very proactive organization that is helping communities to sustain amidst globalization. Our rainforests are the lungs of the planet. They hold the medicine of the future and present.

globalexchangefairtradeGlobal Exchange Fair Trade Store

Shop here for handicrafts from all around the world. The fair trade shop supports local artisans and communities and gives a large percentage of the donation to the people themselves. The gifts are very unique and colorful. You can buy anything from toys, jewelry, clothes, household item, coffee, chocolate and more. They also have wonderful gift baskets.  I love this stuff.
