Dr. Gabrielle FrancisI’m very excited to greet you with my first newsletter, The Philosopher’s Stone from The Herban Alchemist and Apothe-Carry Natural Remedies.

I chose the name The Herban Alchemist for my new business. The word Alchemy suggests Transformation and Change from a lower to higher state. Whosoever wishes to know about the world must learn about it in its particular details.
Knowledge is not intelligence.
In searching for the truth be ready for the unexpected.
Change alone is unchanging.
The same road goes both up and down.
The beginning of a circle is also its end.
Not I, but the world says it: all is one.
And yet everything comes in season.
— Heraclitus

As we move into fall, I choose 2 major themes for the first issue of my newsletter, The Philosopher’s Stone.

  • The first is the Immune System, as I know all of you are concerned about colds and influenza and what we can do to protect ourselves and our families.
  • The second issue revolves around the seasonal characteristics of the fall such as Change and the element of metal in Chinese medicine.

This has been an incredible year of change for me. I am embracing change as an opportunity for transformation and growth. It has been a difficult year with more work than I could ever have imagined. But the fuel for me was the desire to share my knowledge and experience with more people. And at the same time to move to a place of deeper personal fulfillment. As many of you know, I got married this July.

So, I am including some thoughts and quotes on change and transformation. Allowing ourselves to flow with the changes can open us up to opportunities that we never imagined possible. If we resist change, we will find ourselves feeling like we are in a state of Crisis. If we embrace change, we will find ourselves in a state of Flux. Remember to enjoy the journey and embrace all the experiences along the way.

It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.
